Fasil Nasim

Managing Partner, Co-CIO

Over 20 years’ direct front office experience in all aspects of commodities – financing, derivatives, physical trading. Previously working for BP, JP Morgan, BNP Paribas and most recently as EMEA Head of Energy Sales with Citi Group.

Prior to co-founding Audentia in 2018, Fasil was Managing Director and Head of Energy Sales for the EMEA region at Citigroup. In that role, Fasil developed the long-term client strategy for the business, working closely with partners across Citigroup’s Corporate and Investment banking teams. Prior to joining Citigroup in 2012, Fasil was Managing Director and Head of EMEA energy sales for BNP Paribas, where he built and developed the corporate sales platform, covering producers, refiners, utilities, and gas distribution companies. Between 2001 and 2007, Fasil worked for JP Morgan’s commodity business, initially as an oil options trader, later running the European products and crude trading desk. Fasil began his career in the energy business in 1996, working for British Petroleum as a Petroleum Engineer, before moving into Business Development and Trading.

Fasil graduated from Imperial College with an M.Eng. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

Chris Newman

Managing Partner, Co-CIO

Over 10 years’ direct front office and practical experience across physical trading, trade financing, structuring and implementation of both vanilla and exotic hedging strategies for risk management. Previously worked for BNP Paribas and more recently established and grown a physical trading company.

Prior to co-founding Audentia in 2018, Chris established an energy company in Singapore delivering oil products globally to the major oil companies. Chris began his career in energy in 2008 at BNP Paribas’ commodity business. Initially, he was responsible for building derivative structures for oil producers, refineries, utilities, and traders in order to help them manage and optimise price risks. Later on, Chris was responsible for originating all new business within BNP Paribas’ trade finance franchise and creating an integrated strategy combining derivatives with the physical financing business globally. He then went on to establish a team that pioneered technical derivative structures within physical pricing contracts, enabling BNP Paribas to offer effective risk management solutions to their clients.

Chris graduated from Edinburgh University with an MSc in Biochemistry.

Chris Newman

Andrew Hallett

COO and Head of Metals and Mining

Over 10 years’ originating, structuring and financing in the metals and mining sector. Previously working for Enbridge Pipelines, Natsource Asset Management, Deutsche Bank, BTG Pactual Commodities and most recently Partner at Rice Capital Partners.

Before joining Audentia in 2019, Andrew was a Partner at Rice Capital Partners, an investment company focused on opportunities in upstream metals and mining projects. Previously, Andrew worked as an Investment Advisor for an Asia-Pacific non-ferrous metals company, originating a number of transactions involving off-takes, pre-payments, convertibles and mezzanine financing. He was also Global Head of Metals and Mining Investments for BTG Pactual. Prior to that, Andrew worked for Deutsche Bank in the commodity structuring team in Singapore and the structured commodity origination team in London. Andrew began his career in 2006 as an economic analyst for Enbridge Pipelines in Calgary.

Andrew graduated from the University of Alberta with a BA in Economics and holds an MSc in Finance from the London School of Economics.

Mikael Bonalumi

Head of Physical Risk Management

Over 25 years’ experience as book leader for various products and running global physical oil trading and derivative operations. Previously worked for OK Petroleum, Total Oil Trading SA (TOTSA) and most recently Global Director of Trading for Litasco.

Mikael joined Audentia in 2018 from Litasco, the Geneva-based marketing and trading company of Lukoil. As Director of Trading, Mikael was responsible for developing and growing several oil businesses and overseeing all derivatives trading. Prior to joining Litasco in 2015, Mikael spent 23 years at Total Oil Trading SA (TOTSA), as General Manager for the global products business. Mikael began his oil career in 1987 with OK Petroleum.

Building on a successful track record of identifying, supporting, and developing major relationships for the bank, Chris has served on the Boards of and advised a number of commodity trading firms and played an instrumental role in the creation of two successful oil companies.

Brigitte Forde

Head of Compliance

Over 18 years’ experience in compliance and regulatory oversight positions across asset management, banking and commodity traders. Previously working for the FCA, Barclays Capital, Bank of America, Olam and Freepoint Commodities.

Brigitte joined Audentia in 2018 from Freepoint Commodities, where she worked in the global business compliance team. Prior to Freepoint, Brigitte was a Vice President in JP Morgan’s global commodities compliance team and also as part of the wider macro team, working on regulatory queries. Between 2012 and 2014, Brigitte worked in a wide range of compliance roles for Olam Europe and Rapaport Group, as well as setting up the UK compliance for PetroIneos in London. During 2009 to 2011, Brigitte worked for Bank of America Merrill Lynch as a Business Supervision Officer. She conducted an in-depth gap analysis of supervision practices and oversaw the implementation of required changes.

Chief Commercial Officer

Over 20 years’ experience split between Fixed Income Portfolio Management, Sales and Distribution. Previously working for AMP Asset Management, Henderson, Winton Capital and most recently co-founding Wake Trade Technologies.

Andrew joined Audentia in 2019 from Wake Trade Technologies, an investment firm applying machine learning technology that he co-founded in 2014. Since 2014, Andrew has served on the investment committee for Perspective Investments, an investment business offering a range of liquid and illiquid investments. Between 2008 and 2014, Andrew worked at Winton Capital Management as Head of Americas and Institutional business development. Prior to Winton, Andrew was the Director of Institutional Business Development and a member of the Executive Management team at Henderson Global Investors. Between 1994 and 2000, Andrew worked for AMP Asset Management, initially as an FX and Fixed Income trader, before becoming an Investment specialist.

Andrew graduated from Bournemouth University with a BA Hons in Financial services.

Nick Makin

Chief of Staff

Over 11 years’ in resource management across the investment sectors, specialising in commodities. Having spent the previous 8 years as a professional rugby player he most recently worked for Odgers and Armstrong International in Executive Search roles.

Nick joined Audentia in 2018 as Chief of Staff. Nick spent the previous 11 years in resource management, most recently running the commodities business at Armstrong International. During this period, he developed a wide range of clients spanning hedge funds, commodity traders, family offices, and investment banks. Previously, Nick had a career in professional sports.

Nick graduated from Durham University with a BA Hons.

Head of Quantitative Analysis

Over 20 years’ asset management experience in developing and managing systematic and quantitative models focussing on credit, equity, and commodity strategies. Previously working for Gartmore, Armajaro and most recently Mako.

Elliott joined Audentia in 2018 from Mako Europe, where he was responsible for setting up and managing a systematic trading portfolio. Prior to Mako, Elliott was a Founding Partner of Merx Capital, where he managed a portfolio of systematic and fundamental strategies focussing on commodities. Between 2006 and 2015, Elliott was responsible for overseeing the credit portfolio and providing quantitative analysis at Armajaro Asset Management. Previously, Elliott was a senior quantitative analyst at Gartmore Investments and a member of the Quantitative Strategies team, managing assets of $600m. Elliott began his career in 1995 as a quantitative analyst for ING Barings. He joined Citigroup Smith Barney in 2001.

Sophia Vanco

Head of Investor Relations

12 years of experience in investor relations and marketing in the asset management industry.

Sophia joined Audentia in 2019 from City Financial where she worked in the newly formed Investor Relations team. Sophia was responsible for all client on boarding and reporting, and worked alongside internal legal and compliance teams to establish procedures for financial promotions. Previously, Sophia worked in various investor relations, marketing, and client service roles at Systematica, Polar Capital, Advent Capital Management and Conduit Ventures.

Sophia graduated from the University of Westminster with a First Class Honours degree in Journalism.

Kat Grant

Executive Assistant to Managing Partners

Over 5 years Experience as an Executive Assistant and Marketing Co-ordinator, in media and creative industries.

Kat joined Audentia in 2018 as Executive Assistant to the Managing Partners. Kat previously worked for Mood Media, a global media company, in the Marketing and Communications division. She oversaw and coordinated large scale workshops, events and exhibitions in the marketing and music industry.

Kat graduated from the Leeds College of Art and Design with a BA Hons in Art and Design Interdisciplinary.

Kat Grant

Executive Assistant to Managing Partners

Over 5 years Experience as an Executive Assistant and Marketing Co-ordinator, in media and creative industries.

Kat joined Audentia in 2018 as Executive Assistant to the Managing Partners. Kat previously worked for Mood Media, a global media company, in the Marketing and Communications division. She oversaw and coordinated large scale workshops, events and exhibitions in the marketing and music industry.

Kat graduated from the Leeds College of Art and Design with a BA Hons in Art and Design Interdisciplinary.
